READY TO EXPEL NEGATIVE ENERGY FROM YOUR BODY?
Book a Cupping Therapy session at Muscle Lab for FREE and we’ll help your body improve its blood flow, while relieving pain and tension through Myofascial Release.
This localized treatment has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries in efforts of increasing the bodies natural energy flow or “qi”. Myofascial release is a natural way of stimulating local circulation within an affected area to provide anti inflammation and pain relief.
This holistic treatment has grown in popularity throughout the world and is now used by athletes and non athletes alike to promote healing for targeted areas.
Traditionally, Cupping therapy was believed to positively impact an individuals life force by removing the impurities harnessed in their bloodstream. Original cupping practices were a way to balance yin and yang; negative and positive energies within someone and is still very relevant in todays practices.
There are many benefits of Myofascial therapy such as relieving muscular pain by reducing tension, improving blood flow and circulation, stimulating your QI, reducing cellulite and even improving posture.
At the end of your Myofascial/cupping session it is normal to experience dark spots or bruising on the affected area, this is a positive indicator that blood has reached the surface and your muscle recovery has begun.
The side effects of cupping therapy are mild and greatly depend on the degree of suction used during the session. Post treatment your body may experience fatigue, mild soreness, and bruising of the affected area. In extreme cases studies have shown skin infections to be a possible symptom. This side effect is often associated with "wet" cupping therapy, a practice used to physically drain blood pulled to the surface through a small incision. However, Muscle Lab's cupping treatment plan involves vacuum cupping. The side effects associated with vacuum cupping are less invasive and limited to bruising, fatigue, dizziness, skin irritation and sweating.
Commonly utilized as a holistic pain treatment, cupping therapy is best used to reduce inflammatory markers at a molecular level. Cupping promotes healing in targeted muscular areas through the use of suction cups. Once these cups are activated the process begins, the suction device pulls fluids to the affected areas and breaks down blood vessels just beneath the skin. Because the skin on your body is well vascularized the application of suction aids in blood circulation through the dilation of red blood cells.
This increase in blood circulation through Myofascial release offers various other healing properties such as lymphatic drainage and stripping the blood stream of toxins built up over time. Myofascial may aid in an immunity boost as well as relieve muscular tension associated with neck pain, back pain and overall physical stiffness.
What is Fascia?
Fascia is the tissue that encapsulates all the organs in our body, and is responsible for carrying blood vessels and lymph. Healthy fascia guarantees smooth muscle, joint, and skin movement relative to each other, which allows for pain free and efficient movement. It also absorbs the impact and prevents joint overloading and damage.
When fascia is dysfunctional, one may feel like “everything is tight” and they can’t relax the muscles, longer recovery times, loss of mobility, and increased risk of injury.
By releasing trigger points manually and working deep into the muscle, MFR helps lengthen the muscle fibers, which in turn allows for more joint range of motion without loss of strength.
When combined with a proper corrective exercise routine, MFR brings significant long term results and allows for efficient movement and reduced risk of injury.
Our therapists also combine trigger point work with other modalities, such as cupping, scraping, or electric stimulation with biofeedback to facilitate healing - depending on your individual needs or concerns.
